For the second time in his career, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior heavyweight
Jared Johnson has earned a spot on the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District At-Large Team.
The men's At-Large team consists of nominees from NCAA Division I programs in wrestling, fencing, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball and water polo.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's events.
Johnson was an honors graduate in the Spring of 2016 with a degree in Chemical Engineering and a 3.76 GPA. He also earned the Southern Conference's William Moore Graduate Scholarship and is currently working on an M.B.A. at UTC.
He is a three-time NCAA Qualifier and a three-time Academic All-NWCA. He also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors following his sophomore junior season.
First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America® honorees will be selected later this month.
