SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- Senior shortstop Brook Womack and sophomore outfielder Aly Walker were named to the All-Southern Conference First Team and headline a total of five softball Mocs selected to all-conference teams, the league announced Tuesday.
 
Seniors Ashley Conner and J.J. Hamill earned second team honors at the second base and utility positions, respectively, while freshman pitcher Allison Swinford was named to the SoCon All-Freshman team.
 
It marks the 15^th time UTC had two or more selections for the first team, the most of any other SoCon member. Swinford is now the 18^th Moc to earn a spot on the all-rookie team, also the most in the league.
 
Womack and Walker are tied for the team lead and sit tied for third in the conference with a .371 batting average this season. The duo took home Player of the Month honors for their play in March and April, respectively.
 
In addition to the .371 batting average, Womack has driven in a team-high 34 RBI and also leads the squad in hits (52), total bases (80), homeruns (7), slugging percentage (.571) and on-base percentage (.437). She hit .333 (16-for-48) with four homeruns and 14 RBI in 16 SoCon games this season.
 
Walker has caught fire over the last month, notching a hit in 12 of 13 games in the month of April and batting to a .512 average during that span. In conference games only this season, she ranks second in the SoCon with a .451 (23-for-51) batting average and totaled a conference-best 36 bases.
 
She leads the team with 27 runs scored and nine doubles while sitting second in hits (46), slugging percentage (.556), total bases (69) and on-base percentage (.431).
 
Conner ranks third on the team with a .306 (44-for-144) average and has played stellar defense at second this season as she carries a .972 fielding percentage in over 170 total chances. Hamill is batting .286 (38-for-133) with three homeruns, 14 RBI, 22 runs and a team-high 11 sacrifice hits.
 
Swinford pitched to a 4-3 record in 11 SoCon appearances this season and carried a 3.45 ERA. In her 44.2 innings of conference work, she allowed just 22 earned runs while striking out 15. She earned complete game wins over Western Carolina and ETSU while notching wins over Samford and UNCG in relief roles. Her biggest highlight came against ETSU as she tossed a CG, one-hit gem while striking out a pair.
 
Full All-Southern Conference teams and honors can be found below. Samford's Shelby Maze was named the Player of the Year while Furman's Lindsey Bert earned Pitcher of the Year laurels. UNCG's Janelle Breneman was the Coach of the Year, her first selection.

Chattanooga will head to Greensboro, N.C., this week for the Southern Conference Tournament (May 9 – 12). The Mocs will enter the championship as the No. 4 seed and will face No. 5 Samford in the first round on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
