The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team will hold the First Tennessee Meet the Mocs on Sunday, Aug. 16 at Finley Stadium. The event kicks-off the season for Chattanooga as the Mocs look to "Restore the Glory" in 2009. Gates open at 1:30 p.m. and admission is free.
The 'First Tennessee Working Money' mascot will be on hand to give out free "Restore the Glory" t- shirts to the first 500 fans at the event.
"We invite everyone down to Finley Stadium for the Meet the Mocs event August 16," said First Tennessee's Regional President Frank Schriner. "It is an exciting time to celebrate the home team and show them our support. We look forward to a great family event."
The afternoon begins with a chance for fans to be on the field with the team for pictures, autographs and interaction with your favorite Mocs. There will also be food and drinks available with inflatable toys for the younger Moc enthusiasts after the scrimmage on the North Concourse.
Fans can try their field goal skills for a prize courtesy of First Tennessee or put on a replica jersey, helmet and pads for a picture in the end zone. The cheerleaders and Sugar Mocs will also be on hand for pictures, autographs and face painting.
"I would like to thank First Tennessee and Mocs Sports Properties for their support in helping us put on the 'Meet the Mocs' event," stated UTC Director of Athletics Rick Hart. "This is a fun afternoon for the whole family and a great chance for fans to meet our team."
If you have not gotten your 2009 season tickets, this is an excellent opportunity to 'test drive' the best available seats in the house. Some of the top chairback seats still not claimed will be marked and UTC ticket office staff will be on hand to help with your purchase.
At 2:30 p.m. the team will hit the locker room to suit up for the live scrimmage that begins at 3:00 p.m. Chattanooga's ESPN Radio 105.1 FM will also broadcast live from the event to cover all of the preseason action.

The Mocs kick-off the 2009 season with their home opener against Glenville State on Thursday, Sept. 3, at 7:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) at Finley Stadium.
