Georgia State Grad Transfer Erin Wyatt Set to Join Chattanooga Volleyball in 2024

Mocs continue to bolster 2024 roster with addition of four-year starter in Wyatt.

CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga indoor volleyball team welcomed in their third new transfer portal addition on Tuesday, with the team bringing in Georgia State outside hitter Erin Wyatt, as announced by head coach Julie Torbett.

An impactful four-year starter with the Panthers, Wyatt joins the Mocs for her fifth and final year of eligibility heading into the 2024 season. Wyatt capped off her time at GSU having logged 731 career kills with a 2.26 career kills/set average, alongside 820 career digs (2.54 digs/set), 161 career blocks (0.5 blocks/set) and 64 career aces (0.2 aces/set).

"After competing against Erin for the past three years, we are well aware what a talent we are getting," Coach Torbett said. "She is an explosive outside hitter that reads the game very well. She is a skilled defender, a great server and passer, as well as a terminating attacker. We intend to provide Erin with the environment and support system to have an amazing graduate year on and off the court."

Wyatt has seen her highest level of production come her past two seasons at Georgia State, having 426 of her kills (58.3 percent), 503 of her digs (61.3 percent), 102 of her blocks (63.4 percent) and 46 of her aces (71.9 percent) come during that two-year frame of her playing career. This past season in 2023, Wyatt ended the year as the team leader in kills (208), aces (22) and points (266.0) while ranking second for the Panthers in digs (279).

A native of Spring, Texas, Wyatt attended Klein Collins High School where she was a four-year letterwinner for the Tigers. Wyatt would lead her high school team in kills in three consecutive seasons, ultimately tallying over 1,300 in her time at Klein Collins. Wyatt was also a two-time First Team All-District honoree and two-time Team MVP for the Tigers.

Wyatt also played club volleyball for Asics Willowbrook Volleyball whilst in high school. Away from the sport of volleyball, Wyatt competed for the Klein Collins track & field team along with being a member of the National Honor Society.

Off the court Wyatt has been an exceptional student, finding her way onto the Dean's List and Athletic Director's Honor Roll multiple times while at Georgia State. Wyatt also served as secretary of the BSAA (Black Student-Athlete Association) while also being a member of the SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee).

Born March 21, 2002, Erin is the daughter of Tonya Kearney and Shone Wyatt. Additionally, Wyatt has three siblings: Eli, Ethan and Kaeshon Wyatt. Her brothers Eli and Ethan both currently play football at Blinn College, while her father Shone played basketball at Texas Tech. Wyatt is undecided on what degree she will pursue while attending UTC.
