Saturday – Jan. 30, 2016TEAM- The Mocs improve to 14-7 overall and 5-2 in SoCon with 65-57 win over ETSU … the Bucs drop to 12-10, 4-3 SoCon … Chattanooga takes over third place in the league standings behind Mercer (6-1) and Samford (6-1)
- Mocs shot 50 percent for the game (24-48) … after shooting 4-13 (30.8%) in the first quarter, the Mocs shot 53.3% (8-15) in the second, 63.6% (7-11) in the third quarter and 55.6% (5-9) in the fourth quarter … fifth game for UTC shooting 50 percent or better … Mocs are 5-0 when shooting 50 percent.
- Chattanooga was 6-of-14 from beyond the 3-point line … second most 3-pointers made in a game this season … second best 3-point field goal percentage this season at 42.9 percent … 519 consecutive games with at least one 3-pointer.
- Mocs scored the first five points … lead changed six times and was tied just once – 17-17 with 7:29 to play in the second quarter …
Moses Johnson's 3-pointer with 6:20 to play in the second quarter put UTC up 20-19 and the Mocs never trailed the rest of the way.
- Chattanooga led by as much as 14 points twice in the fourth quarter … ETSU used a 13-4 run to cut the Mocs lead to 58-53 with 2:47 to play …
Jasmine Joyner hit her first 3-pointer of the game (1-4) with 38 seconds to play to put the Mocs up 61-53 and UTC made all four free throws in the final 24 seconds.
- ETSU outrebounded UTC 38-24 … scored 17 second chance points on 19 offensive rebounds … Chattanooga had 13 points on just eight off the offensive glass.
- The Bucs edged the Mocs 24-22 in the paint … Chattanooga had 18 points off 15 ETSU turnovers while the Bucs converted the Mocs nine miscues into 13 points … the Mocs' bench edged ETSU's 9-8.
- Nine turnovers is second fewest this season for the Mocs.
- Win snaps a two-game losing skid by the Mocs, their first since 2012.
- Chattanooga improves to 53-21 against ETSU and 34-13 in SoCon play …. UTC is 23-12 against ETSU in Johnson City.
