Chattanooga Basketball Postgame Quotes
Chattanooga at Furman

Head Coach Jim Foster
Opening thoughts on the game:
"Defensively, I thought we were there all night.  We had to make an adjustment in how we were guarding something late that allowed them to get that three.  We made that adjustment in a time out, but I thought our defensive effort was terrific.  I thought our patience on offense was very good."

On the play of Jasmine Joyner:
"Jazz re-established herself on the low block.  She had been drifting away and falling in love a little bit too much with perimeter shots.  We made a point of getting her back on the block in the second half.

"She can shoot the three, and when we reverse the ball and people don't guard her, that is a good time for her to take one.  She is not a catch-and-shoot three-point shooter. She is a - you're not guarding me, OK I am going to take the shot – three-point shooter.

"We have played a lot of bigger teams and she had just gotten in the habit of moving away.  We just made some calls to have her on the black, made her stay on the block and got the ball down there.  She was obviously very effective.

"She has got to stay away from silly fouls.  We have been harping on it.  The kid is driving and has a tough shot.  Make her shoot over you.  Don't even think about blocking the shot.  The percentages on that shot going in are in all probability about 20, but she is probably a 70% foul shooter.  A shot she is going to make one in five times is a shot you want them to take."

On the play of Queen Alford and others tonight:
"
She is a good player and we want here to be a little bit different than where she has been and what her strengths are.  I think she is starting to adjust and understand that.  She had a little tough luck on her threes tonight.  The two point field goals and getting fouled and getting to the foul line just gives us another dimension.

"Moses did not play really well in the first half, but came on in the second half and played really well.  Red has to go 40 and I thought she did a really good job."

On how the team is improving offensively:
"We are a team that has to evolve offensively, and we will as we progress through the season.  We have to play a little bit differently because we are down a ball-handler that is also a three point shooter.  We are starting to understand how we need to play.

"The thing we can never let go of is the defense.  That is going to determine wins and losses for us.  It allows us to hang around in games where we might be behind and get a good run offensively.  It allows us to set the tempo in the basketball game.  There are teams that like to get up and go, but we frustrate that.  I think we are evolving and improving as we go through the season."
