Postgame Quotes vs. VMI

Chattanooga Football Postgame Quotes
VMI at No. 8 Chattanooga
Finley Stadium – Chattanooga, Tenn.
Saturday – Oct. 22, 2016

Head Coach Russ Huesman
On today's win:
"Obviously a good win. At this time of the year, any win is a good win. Have to give VMI credit. They came out in the second half and played. They played hard, even out-played us in the second half, there's no question about that. We didn't put two halves together, but that being said, this time of year, however you can get a win, you got to get a win. We got a win, and I'm proud of our guys for that."

Difference in VMI between the first and second half:
"They were throwing and catching a little bit better. They were getting the ball out of the quarterback's hands pretty quickly. We had opportunities to get them off the field, penalties here-and-there. Proud of our guys though, after that first kick-off return, our defense stepped up and didn't give them anything, so that was a big one right there."

Richardre Bagley's performance:
"Really nice today…had 189 yards. Proud of Richardre. Richardre is a great human being, great kid, excellent player, and has been really good for us. Craine gets 220 (earlier this year) and Bagley with 189…shout out to our offensive line for blocking and getting the space in there. The offensive coaches for the plays that they think will increase that. Proud of Bagley, no question."

On Tyler Roberson coming in reserve for an injured Bennifield in the 4th quarter:
"Thank goodness we have Tyler Roberson cause he can come in, and he can make plays. I'm proud of him."

On Keionta Davis' disruptive performance:
"He's hard to block. We've had every NFL team come out to see him this season, and they were here today. Excellent player, talented, no question about that. He's hard to block."

Tyler Roberson, Jr.-QB
Mindset coming into the week?
"This was a redemption week for us. We wanted to prove we were still a high powered offense. We proved that if someone goes out, we can still get other guys involved to make plays. It was good to see Richardre (Bagley) go out and perform like he did. We wanted to come in and impose our will through our offense and our backfield."

Richardre Bagley, Jr.-RB
Knowing Derrick Craine would be out, talk about how your role would be expanded?
"I just wanted to go out there and prove myself. It was really just next guy up; we all have the ability to have great games. This whole game was a group effort, it was an amazing day for the offensive line and their blocking. I tried to be as versatile as I can, and not limit myself to being just a speed back. I want to be a complete back and just do what I can for the team."

Nakevion Leslie, Sr.-LB
Thoughts on the game:
"We wanted to come out and pick up from where we left off last week and get another conference win under our belt."

Does the loss hurt more than the wins feel good?
"It is probably a tossup. A loss hurts, and in this league, you cannot lose. There are some good teams out there week-in and week-out, and to be on top you have to keep winning."

It must feel nice to face a quarterback that drops back a majority of the snaps and to get after them:
"It was fun, getting guys like Keionta Davis and Vantrel McMillan to get after the quarterback and to do what they do best."

Keionta Davis, Sr.-DE
Talk about the last play of the game where they were having a drive and the sack you had:
"It was just time for it. I didn't want them getting any more momentum than they had. I just had to go make a play."

How did last week's lost prepare you guys for today's game?
"We all came out hungry, hungrier than we were at the beginning of the season. We were all prepared and ready, nothing came as a surprise to us."
