Joyner Grabs Third Straight SoCon Honor

SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga junior Jasmine Joyner (Southaven, Miss.) grabbed her third straight Innovative Office Solutions Southern Conference Player of the Week honor the league office announced Tuesday.

Joyner averaged a double-double on the week with 17 points and 11 rebounds along with five blocked shots per game last week in the Mocs back-to-back road wins over UNCG and Western Carolina. The wins pushed the Mocs into second place in the league standings, just one half game behind Mercer.

In the Mocs' 74-53 win over UNCG on February 11, Joyner notched her seventh double-double of the season with 21 points, 13 rebounds, five blocks and two steals in 34 minutes of action. She was 9-of-14 (64.2%) from the field against the Spartans.

Two days later, Joyner tallied 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a 65-51 victory at Western Carolina. She chipped in five more blocks in the contest and added two assists and two steals while playing 38 minutes.

Joyner leads the nation in total blocked shots (106) and blocked shots per game (4.24). She ranks second all-time in the SoCon with 294 career rejections.

The Mocs (18-7, 9-2 SoCon), who moved into second place in the league standings with their win at WCU, will be back in action on Wednesday when they host third-place Samford (16-9, 8-2 SoCon) for a key conference game.
