CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's outdoor track and field team will head to Nashville this weekend for the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invitational.

The Mocs will begin events Friday evening with the women's 1500 meter. Sophomore
Hannah Chamblin (Memphis, Tenn.) will run the first heat of the 1500 meter run while senior
Helenka Kis (Columbia, Tenn.) and junior Katie DeMars (Knoxville, Tenn.) will be in the fifth heat. Sophomore
Anna Kate Chance (Columbia, Tenn.) will compete in the 5000 meter run later in the evening to conclude the women's events for Friday.

On Saturday, the Mocs will compete in seven different events including sprints, distance, steeple chase and field events as well as a relay.

Sophomore
Emily Drouin (Verona, Ontario) and freshman
Haley Morris (Lenoir City, Tenn.) will begin the day for Chattanooga with the 2000 meter Steeplechase event set to begin at 1:15 p.m. Eastern Time. Senior
Makala Diggs (Box Elder, S.D.) will run the 400m with freshman
Mercedes Bright (Kingsport, Tenn.) competing in the 100 meter dash.

The women's 800 meter run will field five runners. Sophomore
Maddison Melchionna (Afton, Tenn.) will run the first heat for the Mocs as she tries to snare UTC's outdoor record to go along with her indoor record captured this year at the Samford Invitational. Senior
Kiaana Howard (Nashville, Tenn.) will run the fourth heat while freshman
Madison Watson (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and sophomore
Chandler Rogers (Loudon, Tenn.) will be in the sixth heat. Freshman
Lily McKee (Knoxville, Tenn.) will run the final heat of the 800 meter for the Mocs.

Junior cross country All-American
Teghan Henderson (Pickering, Ontario) will run the 3000 meter along with junior
Jessica York (Normandy, Tenn.) and senior
Keeley Stewart (Winchester, Tenn.). Junior
Nicole Sumida (Hixson, Tenn.) will take her shot at the high jump at Noon Saturday. Chattanooga will close out the meet with two women's teams in the 4x400 meter relay.

The men's cross country team will have a few members competing this weekend. Junior
Paul Stuart (Brentwood, Tenn.) and senior
Austin Ethridge (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) are slated to compete in the men's 5000 meter Friday night. On Saturday, freshmen
John Payne (Portland, Tenn.) and
Mark Britt (Lebanon, Tenn.) will run the 3000 meter race.

ABOUT THE VANDERBILT TRACKThe Vanderbilt track and field complex was resurfaced before the 2010 season and is located a few yards from Vanderbilt's McGugin Athletic Center.Â
The state-of-the-art complex features a Mondo synthetic track and jump surface, similar to the Olympic venues. The venue also includes a Mondo D-Curve for the javelin and high jump, two containment areas for the discus and hammer throws, and a water element for the steeplechase. The eight-lane track also features a thick, cushioned subsurface ideal for training.Â
