University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics
David Blackburn announced the resignation of women's tennis head coach
Jeff Clark today. Clark is set to become the head of the tennis program at Chattanooga's McCallie School.
"
Jeff Clark has been a tremendous asset for UTC, specifically for his efforts as head coach of our women's tennis program," stated Blackburn. "We wish him all of the success in his new endeavor at McCallie. We will begin a national search for Chattanooga's head women's tennis coach immediately."
Clark just wrapped up the ninth year of his second tenure at UTC. He was also the coach of the Mocs' men's and women's program from 1999-01. Chattanooga has posted 15 wins in five straight campaigns and has had six-consecutive records of .500 or better.
UTC was ranked No. 6 in the Ohio Valley Region in the Final ITA rankings in 2012, No. 8 following the 2013 campaign, No. 9 in 2014 and No. 8 in 2015.
"It has been my honor to coach the Chattanooga women's tennis program for the past nine seasons," stated Clark, who is a 1991 graduate of McCallie. "I'm grateful for all of my players through the years who represented our University with class and dignity.
"I'm proud to have led one of the top tennis programs in the Southern Conference and coached student-athletes who committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom."
"I want to thank athletics director
David Blackburn for his support of our tennis program. UTC Athletics is experiencing unprecedented success because of his vision and leadership. The best is yet to come.
"I've had the privilege of working with so many fine men and women both within the athletic department and across the campus. I will miss those work relationships but will continue to wear the Blue and Gold with pride."
