Postgame Quotes - Western Carolina

Chattanooga Basketball Postgame Quotes
Chattanooga vs. Western Carolina
McKenzie Arena - Chattanooga, Tenn.
Thursday – Jan. 19, 2017

Jim Foster, Head Coach
On first half setting the tone.
"We made the shots that were available and found the ones that would help us. I think we'll make a lot more of those type of shots than miss them."

On utilizing depth of the bench and progressing.
"We practice in the morning time so we practice a lot. So having 5 players in and not having the rest getting in is not a good thing. We'll have a little pressure at practice tomorrow, and when you play that many people sometimes you get a little discombobulated offensively. Someone is moving here when they should be moving there, but for the most part we did some pretty good things. We have to continue to get better and at this stage of the season. There's not a whole lot of teams getting better, and I think we are one of them. It's a small number we just need to stay in that number."

On areas of team improvement.
"I think we are moving the ball more. We are more cognizant of where people are, and we are communicating more efficiently on defense. We are able to change defenses. Tonight we had the opportunity to be able to address some of those things and I think it went well."

Lakelyn Bouldin, Fr.-G
On chemistry with teammates.
"I think the chemistry is getting better as we play more games. Coming in we were kind of finding who played well together, and I think we're starting to find that, and we're getting more comfortable on the floor together."

On depth of the team.
"Well, I think that's huge having players that can come in and off the bench. I know that helps with legs and fatigue for games to come. I would say overall it helps our mentality, knowing that people can come off the bench and help as much as the starting five."

Keiana Gilbert, Jr.-G
On defensive effort.
"I think we picked up our intensity more, and we switched defenses, so we could match up more with them. I think that helped us, switching defenses and picking up our intensity."

On sister Aryanna stepping up.
"When she comes off the bench she helps us a lot. I think she looks to score more around the paint and we try to give her the ball on the block, where she's effective, and I think when she gets the ball down there, she helps us out. Also, it helps with rebounding because Jas (Joyner) isn't the only one rebounding."

On intensity of defense in second half.
"
I think in the second half we were nowhere near as intense as we were in the second quarter. That showed when they got the ball on the offense side and started making shots."
