Postgame Quotes

Jim Foster, Head Coach
On close one-point loss to UCF.
"We have a freshman and sophomore out there throwing the ball to each other, without having the responsibility yet of being in these kind of situations. We just had basketball IQ lost tonight. We couldn't throw it to the side, throw it backwards, and we put ourselves in that situation a couple different times. It's the detailed little things, it's the toughness, it's the will, and we don't have any of that right now. Tough teams create opportunities. We need to step up."

On what needs to improve.
"We need to get smarter. We're playing great teams. Getting tough enough to see an underclassman a little indecisive and then have them take the ball from you because they've played a 100 college games. That's where we need to be."

On looking forward to tough upcoming schedule.
"We didn't give ourselves chances to score tonight. That good thing is everybody has the opportunity to say we want to play tomorrow. That's why we're here. You can't be scared of the way you schedule and how many games you have in a certain amount of days. We have to do what's in front of us and that's not going to change. We need to get smarter and tougher."

Aryanna Gilbert, Senior, Guard
On tough one point loss to UCF.
"It's very disheartening. We'll learn from it and get better from this. We had too many turnovers, they came up with some big steals. We need some of us to step up and get big baskets for us down the stretch."

On what could have been better tonight.
"We needed to do a better job of getting in the open spaces and helping the younger girls out as much as we could. We made some mistakes defensively, but we came in knowing we were going to play a lot of zone tonight. It all comes down to taking care of the ball, we had too many turnovers tonight."
