Women's Basketball Adds Two in Early Signing Period

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball head coach Jim Foster announced the addition of Abby Cornelius and Eboni Williams to the 2018-19 roster in the early signing period.
 
"They are two outstanding high school players who I believe will really help our program," Foster said.
 
Cornelius, a 6-2 forward at Hardin Valley Academy in Knoxville was named the District 4-AAA Tournament Most Valuable Player. She led the Lady Hawks to 23 games and the state sectionals. Cornelius averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds, 2.3 blocked shots and two steals per game last season and helped her team to the Region 2-AAA semifinals.
 
Abbey's head coach at HaRdin Valley is former Lady Moc Jennifer Wilson Galloway (2003) and sister-in-law of assistant coach Katie Galloway Burrows, '04.
 
Williams, a 6-0 forward from Hoover High School in Hoover, Ala., was named the 2017 Class 7-A Tournament Most Valuable Player with 10 points, 11 rebounds and a blocked a potential game-tying shot with 39 seconds remaining in overtime of the championship game.
 
She led the Buccaneers to the 7A State title and was named to the All-State First Team. Last summer she was selected to play for the North in the Girls North-South All-Star Game. She averaged 11.6 points, 7.5 rebounds per game last season and had 84 blocked shots.
 
Eboni plays for Krystal Johnson who moved to Hoover from Huntsville High School where she was head coach for current Chattanooga junior Nakeia Burks.
 
The Mocs open the 2017-18 season this Saturday on the road at Green Bay. The Phoenix finished last season with a 27-6 record and ranked fourth in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25. After winning the Horizon League Tournament, they fell to Purdue in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
