Postgame Quotes
Jim Foster, Head Coach
On what went wrong in defeat to Virginia Tech.
"It makes no difference if I address it. Until we hold ourselves accountable and have an attitude about it and walk out with a little bit of a chip on our shoulder, it'll be the same. It starts there. Accountability. There was no desire to make something not happen. We're not talented enough to outscore people. We have to guard them and be creative with the way we play and have a lot of intensity. That's why we play the schedule we do. We can't take a day off."
On what needs to improve moving forward.
"We have to wake up with the reality of showing up every day. We can't make any excuses. This is what they do more than anything else in their life. It's basketball. That's what they do. We have to show up. If we can't show up for something we have a passion for than who are we?"
On growing from loss.
"We guarded ourselves half the time. We make some many excuses for kids these days. It's accountability. We have to show up. We'll find out next practice. That's not acceptable. The whole philosophy behind what we do is finding out accountability. We can't make the freshmen older. They have to grow from the opportunities in front of them and get better. That's what we want."
Lakelyn Bouldin, So.-G
On today's loss to Virginia Tech.
"We just didn't compete at the level they came out and competed in. I think that hurt us badly. We didn't get enough stops when we needed to down the stretch. We didn't come with the intensity and the mindset we needed to have. We didn't compete at that level. That comes from us. We need to compete day in and day out before we expect to have the results on the floor."
On turning defense into offense.
"I think it comes down to a mental process. We have to focus on defense first and then the offense will follow."
Keiana Gilbert, Sr.-G
On what didn't go right.
"I just don't think we got going offensively like we usually do. I don't think they did anything defensively in particular to make us struggle. A lot of our shots didn't fall tonight."
