SPARTANBURG, S.C.---The Southern Conference announced postseason women's golf honors Thursday with two Chattanooga Mocs earning mention. Sophomore
Monica San Juan received All-SoCon, while Morgan joined the All-Freshman team.
Â
It's the first all-league honor for San Juan. The sophomore from Pamplona, Spain led the Mocs in scoring average at 74.65 shots per 18. She also paced it in birdies (66), pars (352) and fewest others (0.39/round).
Â
Morgan is one of five All-Freshman team members. The Sheffield, England native posted a 75.29 stroke average ranking third on the squad. She tied San Juan and
Cristina Perez for the team lead in par or better rounds with seven.
Â
Notable
- San Juan's 74.65 average is a UTC sophomore record. She bested Megan Woods' mark of 74.86 from a year ago.
- San Juan's stroke average is sixth-best overall trailing Emily McLennan (73.34), Emma de Groot (73.81), de Groot (74.06), de Groot (74.45) and Jordan Britt (74.59).
- Morgan's 75.29 is the 14th-lowest average in school history.
- Morgan's scoring number trails only de Groot among freshmen. de Groot's 74.06 in 2007-08 is the third-lowest overall.

Quotable - Colette Murray on…
Monica San Juan:
"Monica had a great year. She was definitely our steadiest player from start-to-finish. I think it's great for her, deserving, great for the team. Hopefully, this gives her a wee boost heading into the summer and next season."
Â
Holly Morgan:
"Really excited for Holly. With the injury, it's been a really tough semester. Really proud of her perseverance and remaining positive when she could quite easily have gone into a dark place considering how well she played before it happened. I'm glad this is something she can take away from this year."
