TEAM
- The Mocs scored a 63-7 win over VMI today. The victory moves UTC to 1-3 overall and 1-0 in SoCon action, while the Keydets dropped to 0-4 and 0-1 in league play.
- This is the first win at UTC for head coach

- UTC's 63 points are the most for the Mocs since scoring 66 against Shorter last season … most against a Division I opponent since scoring 72 against Mississippi Valley State on Sept. 16, 2000 … second-most points ever for the Mocs in a SoCon game, traliing only the 72-14 win over Appalachian State on Oct. 7, 1978.Â
- The Mocs scored on their opening drive for the first time since last year's Weber State game on Nov. 26.Â

- UTC's average starting field position on its first three drives was the Keydet's 29-yard line.Â
- Mocs opened with a 21-0 lead after the first quarter and 42-7 advantage at halftime.
               - Most points in a quarter since scoring 24 against Mercer in the second quarter of last season's 52-31 win on Oct. 10.
               - Most points in a quarter since scoring 45 in the first half against Shorter in last year's 66-0 win on Sept. 1.
               - Most points in a half since 42 in the second half of a 59-56 win over No. 17 Appalachian State on Oct. 30, 2004.
               - Most points in the first quarter in a SoCon game.
               - Most points in the first half in a SoCon game.Â
 - VMI's Javeon Lara scored a 73-yard TD on a pass from Duncan Hodges in the second quarter … long reception allowed by UTC since Lara had a 79-yard TD catch in last season's game against the Keydets on Oct. 22.Â
- UTC's first scoring drive of the second half went 76 yards on 17 plays and took 9:50 off the clock. It was the longest drive in terms of time since 2009 and the longest number of plays since Furman in 2012.Â

Nick Tiano.Â
- Mocs came into the game -5 on turnovers for the year … +3 in this game with three INTs and a fumble recovery … most turnovers force in a game since five last season against Weber State.Â
- 397 yards of total offense (249 passing and 148 rushing) is a season-high for UTC.
- 10 receivers caught at least one pass for the Mocs today.
- Mocs held the ball for 38:43 of the game, including 13:00 in the third quarter … VMI only had three possessions in the second half.Â
- UTC was 12-15 on third down … came into the game 114
th in the FCS (9/41 – 22.0%) on third down this season.
- Mocs improve to 15-7-1 all-time against VMI … 8-4 in Foster Stadium … 4-0 since the Keydets rejoined the SoCon in 2014.Â
- UTC is 16-25 all-time in SoCon openers … won four in a row … 9-15 when opening on the road.
- This is the 29
th win for the 2017 senior class … tied for sixth all-time at UTC with 2014 and 1983. Â

- 76 yards and two TDs on 15 carries … all season-highs.
- Third time in his career with two rushing TDs.
- Two catches for 21 yards … 674 career receiving yards passes Bucky Wolford (1966-69) for fourth most among running backs at UTC.
Markell Boston – Jr.-DB
- First career INT in the game.
Brandon Dowdell – Fr.-DB
- True freshman handled punt return duties for the first time.
- 42 yards on two attempts.
Bingo Morton – Jr.-WR
- Five catches for 41 yards and two TDs.
- First career multi-TD game.
- Second game in a row with a receiving TD.
Alphonso Stewart – Sr.-WR
- Five catches for 58 yards and a TD.
- Season-highs for catches and yards.
- Fifth receiving TD of his career.
- Blocked a punt in the first quarter.
James Stovall – Sr.-WR
- Three catches for 48 yards and a score … all season-highs.
- Seventh career TD catch.
Nick Tiano – So.-QB
- 25-33 passing for 249 yards and four TDs.
- Career-highs for yards, completions and TDs.
- Ran nine times for 37 yards.
Lucas Webb – Sr.-DB
- INT in the second quarter was the 12
th of his career … second of the season.
- Now tied for third all-time at UTC with Mike Lowman (1985-86), Stan Eller (1974-77) and Tom Partrick (1971-74).
- School-record is 13 held by Bucky Wolford (1965-67) and Phillip Aldridge (1982-85).
- 24-yard fumble return for a TD in the second quarter was his fourth career defensive score (3 pick-sixes).
