Postgame Quotes
Jim Foster, Head Coach
On finding the team's identity after 47-32 win over Western Carolina.
"We'll figure that out over the course of the year. Our identity will be what we do throughout the season and not on a daily basis. You win games in a variety of ways in the game of basketball. We weren't making shots today, but the good news was that we were taking them and not being tentative. Our energy in the fourth quarter, defensively, allowed us to get in the open floor."
On other players stepping up.
"Generally speaking, your best offensive players leads you in shooting. They take more shots than the other players. It's the other players understanding where their opportunities are and taking advantage of them."
Aryanna Gilbert, RSr.-G
On the importance of playing defense.
"Yes definitely. That's always a focal point, especially when we're not scoring and our shots aren't following."
On making second half adjustments in the locker room.
"We always know after the first half we still have 20 minutes left, whether we're up or down. We still have to come out with fire on defense and be aggressive. We know we have to start being aggressive and get stops and that's something we have been good with."
Keiana Gilbert, Sr.-G
On keeping focus one day at a time.
"I think it's pretty important for us. We basically look that we're 0-0 every game. No matter who the opponent is we have to come out strong and play our game."
On what was the difference today.
"I think from the past two conference games, our identity has been defense. That's what we're known for and that's what helped us win these past two games."
