Former University of Tennessee at Chattanooga standout Josh Cardiello has accepted an invitation to mini-camp with the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Cardiello is a two-time All-Southern Conference offensive lineman who transferred to UTC from Georgia in 2015.Â
Cardiello started all 11 games at center after moving over from right guard, where he played his junior season. He earned second team All-SoCon honors each of his last two years with the Mocs.Â
"I am excited for the opportunity to try to prove myself and further my career," stated Cardiello. "I am ready to compete and the highest level and try to earn a spot. I am grateful to all of the coaches at UTC I have worked with during my career. They helped me get in this position and gave me this chance to be successful."
He graduated with a degree in Sports Management in the spring of 2017 and worked towards a second degree in Public Administration and Non-Profit Management during his final semester of eligibility.Â
The Buccaneers' rookie mini-camp is scheduled for May 10-13.
"We are all very happy for Josh," stated UTC head coach Tom Arth. "Josh was the anchor on our offensive line this past season and has worked very hard in preparation for an opportunity to continue his playing career. We are excited that he will have the chance to live his dream with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers."Â
Cardiello joins five other Mocs who are already signed with NFL teams. These include C.J. Board ('16 - Brown), Keionta Davis ('16 – Patriots), Tae Davis ('17 – Giants), Corey Levin ('16 – Titans), Buster Skrine ('10 – Jets),
