- The Mocs win a season-opener against an FCS opponent for the first time since defeating Tennessee Tech 31-7 on Aug. 31, 2006.Â
- UTC is 74-34-3 (.680) in home openers all-time. UTC has posted a 12-9 (.571) mark in the 21 at Finley Stadium.
- Chattanooga is 61-49-1 (.554) in all-time season openers. The Mocs have lost seven of the previous eight openers, but four of those were to FBS teams.
- This is the 10th Thursday night home game for the Mocs since Finley Stadium opened in 1997. Chattanooga is 6-4 when playing in Finley Stadium on Thursday nights.
