Lineup Set for Carpet Capital Collegiate

Head Coach Mark Guhne announces his starting lineup for the season’s first event this coming weekend in Dalton, Ga.

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team's season is fast approaching. The Mocs take the tee in just four days at the Carpet Capital Collegiate at the Farm in nearby Dalton, Ga. Head Coach Mark Guhne and trusted assistant Ryan Heisey announced their lineup for the "Masters of College Golf" Monday afternoon.

The duo devised a mix of playing results on the impressive tracts available around Gig City as well as utilizing the Player Development Complex with a variety of drills providing scoring and giving the duo a well-rounded plan to construct the opening five.

"Ryan and I sat down and came up with a plan to maybe find a better way to open this season," Guhne shared. "It wasn't easy to make this starting five. The competition was fantastic with so many guys on our roster really working hard to get into the lineup.

"At the end of it, the data we had pointed to this lineup. We're excited about our depth and getting this season underway."

The starting five has two easy choices. Seniors Lake Johnson and Etienne Brault were exempt into it based on their resumes.

"Lake earned all-conference last year and E qualified for the U.S. Amateur," Guhne added. "They've both played quality golf for this program. Their experience is vital against such a great field at the Carpet Capital."

The left three spots. Eight student-athletes remained to pare down to that magic number. A junior and two sophomores found their way through the maze to take the final positions: Will Porter, A.J. Lintunen and Oliver Simonsen.
