Head coach Matt McCallOpening statement:"I felt like we had good shots, especially in the first half. We were getting down the lanes and guys were just flat out missing layups. Everyone for the most part was getting in the lane. We had some wide-open three's in the first half and the ball just didn't go in the net.
"I was more disappointed with the fact that we lacked some toughness. We lacked some grit. That's basically all we talked about going into the game is this a complete-mindset game. This is a game completely about our toughness. We were playing our fifth game in 10 days on the road and not a great crowd obviously. You have to create your own energy."
On getting back in the game in the second:"You've got to be able to bring it every single night for 40 minutes. You can't just turn it on and turn it off. No team out there is that good to be able to do that. We showed some fight in the second half getting back into the game and taking the lead a couple of times. Towards the end of the game, we couldn't keep them out of the lane and our rotations on defense were really bad.
"We never really stepped up and took a charge and put our bodies in plays. We kept letting them drive baselines and no one stepped up outside the lanes. We have to get back to work during these eight days."
On Greg Pryor foul trouble:"He does make a difference. He does run the show. There's no question about that. Our press was not great in the game. We were out-rebounding them going in the locker room. They out-rebounded us going into the second half. They had five loose ball rebounds. We have to clean that up. We have to get those balls."
On ULM's Nick Coppola:"He played 40 minutes. He scored 14 points, had five assists, two turnovers and two steals. He was 4-for-5 on the free throw line, 5-for-9 on the field. As a point guard, you can't ask for a kid to do much better than that. He controlled the game. He never got rattled. Give them credit, he played a terrific game."
On moving forward:"Teams are really trying to pressure us and take us out of what we're trying to do. We had good shots in the game, we just didn't make them at the end of the day. We have to get back to work and continue to execute offense. We need to get healthy. We need to get
Justin Tuoyo back here in the rotation. We need to continue to get better in the press.
"We did some good things. We held them to 14 percent from the 3pt line. We have to get back to work and take care of our academics. It's a big week for finals, and then get some really good quality practices in."
