Chattanooga Basketball Postgame Quotes
Belmont at Chattanooga

Head coach Jim Foster
On Moses Johnson's career high in points and rebounds.
"I thought she did a very good job with her aggression and going to the glass, along with being patient. Three assists and a turnover playing the way she plays is a big deal. Sometimes that energy carries over and you can play a little too fast offensively, but she did a great job of tempo offensively.
Â
On seeing improvements offensively.
"I don't know what the record is for fewest turnovers in a game, but we have to be close. Four, that's a pretty significant number. We shot well enough, but we got shots because we weren't giving them shots. So by 62 shots, my guess is that this is the most shots we've gotten in a game this year."
Â
What was the main emphasis going into this game?
"The emphasis was to keep grinding defensively. Offensively, we wanted more people to take on some responsibility. We've had too many people passing the ball to the next person wanting them to do something, and today I thought that more often than not the player with the ball asserted themselves and took advantage of opportunities that were created because of that.
"I think that one of the reasons you can be a great offensive rebounding team is that you take shots where everybody sort of knows the shot's going up. We were sort of playing in a manner where everybody was surprised at the shot taken, and it's tough to offensive rebound those shots."
Â
On getting a quality win after South Florida.
"It's the process with this group, and I give them a lot of credit for adjusting. A lot of teams lose two starters and they fold. We've played tough. We played hard, hold ourselves accountable and that's a good job. Now we've got to get into our bench a bit, and we will as we progress hopefully and expand who we are."
Â
On Nakeia Burks' effort.
"Nakeia is starting her second game in college, and I think she's the first one who made an aggressive move on the baseline. She took it and went to the basket and the ball almost went in. I think that woke a couple of people on her team to say, 'If she can get there, why can't I'?
"Fast starts or slow starts, this team is not going to go out of the shoot and go up 20-2. We're going to pull our shorts up and grind, because that is who we are and who we'll continue to be."
Moses Johnson, guard, junior
Was there a change in your preparation and mentality for today?
"Yes, there was a lot of preparation overall for the team. We went in and we focused on things we needed to get better at. We just drilled them in practice. Hard work pays off, and it showed in the game today."
What are the things you have to get better at?
"Being more aggressive, defense, moving the ball, transition, transition defense up the floor and really pushing it, quite a bit of things."
What are the things that you learned from the two-game losing streak?
"Playing throughout the entire game, 40 minutes, playing tough teams we have to work hard every possession. Having to deal with that coming into another team, we're able to do that – play 40 minutes, push it and drill it, and being able to go back and forth and convert."
Keiana Gilbert, guard, sophomore
How big was this win coming out of a game like South Florida?
"It was a big win. The loss against South Florida, we didn't really play too good in the second half of that game. We just had to practice, bounce back and get better at the things we didn't do good in that game."
What was the halftime talk about?
"At halftime, we talked about getting a stop and that's what we had to focus on going back into the game. I think that's what we did well at the start of the fourth quarter.
"We have been working on practicing running transition offensively, and I think we've been doing good at it in practice. It worked for us in the game today."Â
