Plumlee Earns SoCon Player of the Week Honor

Sophomore middle-blocker Emily Plumlee earns the award for the first time
Sophomore Emily Plumlee (Chesapeake, Va.) was named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week after her stellar defense over the weekend, the league office announced Monday.
This is the first Player of the Week honor for Plumlee and notches the second weekly honor for a Moc in as many weeks as Kristy Wieser was tabbed Offensive Player of the Week last week.
Chattanooga earned a sweep over Wofford on Friday before winning in four-sets over Western Carolina on Saturday.
Plumlee registered a career-high and season team-high 8.0 total blocks (1BS-7BA) in the win over Wofford. She followed up that performance with four more block assists in the win over Western Carolina.
On the weekend, Plumlee finished with 12.0 blocks in just seven sets, finishing with an impressive average of 1.71 blocks per set. She has now collected 42.0 total blocks in 48 sets played on the season, an average of 0.88 blocks per set, which ranks her seventh in the Southern Conference.
"Emily has truly worked on her craft as a middle blocker," said coach Travis Filar. "Her mentality of constant improvement, discipline at the net and ability as an attacker has been huge for the success of our team this season.
"I couldn't be more happy for her in this recognition … it is well deserved."
ETSU's Briana Allmon was awarded the Offensive Player of the Week opposite Plumlee.
The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team is set to return to the court on Wednesday as they travel to Johnson City, Tenn., for a re-match with rival ETSU (11-6, 3-2).
