Postgame Quotes at ETSU

Head coach Matt McCall
On a tough team win, especially from Tre' McLean.
"Someone was asking me about him and how he looked like one of the more dejected guys about what happened on Thursday. And it's because he's a winner. He puts the team first. He's all about the team, and he's all about winning. I'm proud of him being able to bounce back and perform the way he did. His focus was on the right thing.

"His assignment tonight wasn't easy by any means. A lot of the game, he was on Ge'Lawn Guyn. He did a terrific job against him in the first half, a terrific job through the course of the game. He goes zero for five from the three point line for the game. I don't think he's had a game like that all year. The job that we did on T.J. Cromer and Ge'Lawn Guyn was ultimately the difference on the game.

On ETSU being a high-scoring team.
"The last time we played them it was like a shootout. I told our guys coming in that we can't make this into a shooting contest. We can't rely on our offense in a game like this. We need to sit down and get really good stops defensively. I thought in the first half we did a really good job especially defensively. We were terrific.

"In the first half, they scored 26 points – that's about as good as you can get against an offensive team that has as much fire power as they do on the floor. I was really proud of our guys there. We got a lead and it never really relinquished. There was a couple times in the second where they had chances to cut it, especially late. For the most part, I'm really proud of the job our guys did."

On the last four minutes.
"I wanted to attack. I thought if we could get some layups and dunks that were there in the back and the side of their press, we could have completely put the game away. But listen, we made stops when we needed to. We made free throws when we needed to. Johnathan Burroughs-Cook goes to the line and makes three huge free throws. I'm really proud of everyone who contributed tonight. Alex Bran was good in the game. He plays fearless. He goes in there and competes, and he's a joy to be around every single day."

Tre' McLean, forward, junior
On the intense win tonight.
"ETSU is a pretty talented team. They have some real high major guys on their team. The atmosphere was crazy tonight. We knew we were coming into enemy territory. We just knew we were going to be in for a battle."

On his strong performance tonight and against ETSU at home.
"I just happened to be on my better game scoring the ball against ETSU. This was a team win. I was just a recipient of a lot of passes and a lot of shots tonight."

On having lots of good looks.
"I've been at the gym working. My teammates have a lot of confidence in me. I have a lot of confidence in them. Whenever we get wide open shots, coach always tells us to step up, knock them down and shoot them with lots of confidence. That's exactly what I was able to do tonight."

Dee Oldahm, guard, senior
On winning away in a loud atmosphere.
"It's definitely a fun place to play. This one was up there with Mercer. This was definitely a tough one. Tonight more my main points of emphasis was just making sure I come in and get an edge immediately – try and help my team get a spark, because we were shorthanded tonight. I just tried to make sure when I came in, I did what my team needed me to do."

On playing emotional games.
"The good thing about it tonight was after Thursday's game, it was good to get that taste out of our mouth. We came out Thursday, we weren't really focused mentally. To get back out on the floor and compete and come into a good atmosphere with energy, that's always a good feeling."

On play late in the game.
"You can't play not to lose. When we have situations, coach was saying, 'If you have a layup, take it.' We're up, and they're running and jumping and trapping. He'll get us prepared for it. We'll work on it for next time we're in it. In those types of situations, you have to continue what you'd been doing to that point."
