TEAM
- Chattanooga  scored a 59-54 win in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Championship over Samford…record rises to 27-5 on the season…the Bulldogs end their season at 14-19.
 
- The Mocs await the winner of the Wofford-Western Carolina tilt at 2:30 p.m., in the SoCon semis.
 
- 27 wins ties the school record for victories…also tallied 27 in the 1977 NCAA DII National Championship campaign (27-5) and the 1982 Southern Conference Champs (27-4).
 
- 27 wins is currently tied with Little Rock for most in DI hoops this season.
 
- 53-28 all-time in the SoCon Tournament…23-14 in the quarters … first win in the SoCon Tournament since 2010 … first win in the SoCon quarters since 2009.
 
- Matt McCall (Coach of the Year), Justin Tuoyo (Defensive Player of the Year, All-SoCon) and Tre' McLean (All-SoCon) were honored before the game.
 
- 3-0 on a neutral floor this season…won travel bracket of Emerald Coast Classic in Destin, Fla., with victories over Alabama State (95-58) and Jacksonville State (62-52).
 
- Last 10 Games: 8-2…Last 20: 17-3.
 
- Lead the series 56-36…won all three meetings this season…63-56 triumph in Birmingham and 77-66 in Chattanooga just seven days ago…won last five matchups and nine of past 10…2-0 in SoCon Tourney.

- Mocs trailed 36-31 at the break … 4-5 when down at the half.
 
- Samford scored first in the second half for a 38-31 lead … Mocs went on a 10-0 run, capped by Duke Ethridge FTs at the 10:24 mark to take back the lead at 41-38.
 
- Samford only scored six points in the first 14:32 of the second half.

- UTC allowed 18 points in the second half ... fewest this season. 

- Samford shot 17-51 (33.3%) from the field ... fewest FGs allowed by the Mocs this season. 
 
- UTC tied a season high with nine blocks today  .. four were by guards.
 
- It was the Mocs 10th second-half comeback of the season. 
 
- Starters Justin Tuoyo (11) and Greg Pryor (15) were limited in minutes due to foul trouble.
 
- UTC won the battle on the boards 34-32 … 20-0 when leading in rebounds this season.
 
- Fourth time this season with two in double-figures off the bench – Dee Oldham (12), Duke Ethridge (13). 
 
INDIVIDUAL
Jonathan Burroughs-Cook – Jr.-G
- Played 23 minutes off the bench … most since playing 31 in the first game of the season.
- Five points, two boards and two assists.
 
Duke Ethridge – Sr.-F
- 13 points and game-high and season-high 11 boards.
- Fifth game in double-figures this season … second in last three games … 13th of his career.
- First career double-double.
- Second time this season/career with 10+ boards.
- Season-high 28 minutes off the bench.
- Added a block.
 
Tre' McLean – Jr.-G
- Team-high 16 points … 10 in the second half.
- Shot 7-14 from the field, 1-2 from behind the arc and 1-3 from the FT line.
- Added six boards, three assists, two blocks and two steals.
 
Dee Oldham – Sr.-G
- 12 points in a career-high 31 minutes.
- Shot 4-10 from the field, 1-4 from 3-pt. range and 3-4 from the FT line.
- Added five boards and three assists.
 
Head Coach Matt McCall
- 27-5 to open his collegiate coaching career…best start by a UTC ball coach…next best? Mack McCarthy (1985-86) and Jeff Lebo (2002-03) both began 21-9.
- 3-0 on a neutral floor.
