2015-16 Chattanooga Mocs BasketballPost-Game Quotes – Southern Conference QuarterfinalsMarch 5, 2016 – Samford – Asheville, N.C.Â
Coach Matt McCallOpening Statement:"This time of year makes wins hard to come by. I've been saying it for the last couple of weeks. I thought this was one of the more gutsy wins that we've had all year, from the standpoint that there wasn't a lot going right. I'm proud of the effort everyone gave because we didn't get distracted when nothing was going well for us or because the ball wasn't going in the basket. We kept playing. I'm just really, really proud of our group."
Â
Elaborating on the statement:"We had four starters with two fouls in the first 10 minutes of the game.
Justin Tuoyo was battling foul trouble all game. Same thing with
Greg Pryor. We found a way to gut it out"
Â
On the play of the bench:"Guys like
Dee Oldham and
Duke Ethridge would be starting at a lot of places across the country. They've been completely selfless and put our team first no matter what. That showed today. We don't win the game without
Dee Oldham and
Duke Ethridge…no question about it."
Â
On Johnathan Burroughs-Cook's big second half play:"I thought
Johnathan Burroughs-Cook had such an impact. That block he made was a game-winning play. It would be easy for Burroughs to give up on that play, but he didn't do that. He ran the guy down, made a play and came up with the loose ball too. It was huge."
Â
Dee Oldham, Sr.-GOn the impact of the hustle plays:"I think winning the 50-50 balls is a huge difference in the game. J.B. (Burroughs-Cook) chasing down that block and coming out, getting seven straight stops are vital factors today. If plays like that don't happen, we may not be in this situation right now."
