WBB Quotes - Furman

Chattanooga vs. Furman
Thursday, February 23, 2017
Chattanooga, Tenn. | McKenzie Arena

Jim Foster, Head Coach

On the play of Lakelyn Bouldin including her offensive rebound put back.
"By far that was the turning point, the offensive rebound put-back, that gave us energy. We went down and made a couple of good stops and got into transition, we found her and was able to make the shot. She's learning on how to get the best teams defender on her in the perimeter, and move without the ball. She's using her head to get open and doing a better job at that, and we are doing better figuring out when she's open, and where she is. Chelsey [Shumpert] made a great pass when looking for Lakelyn on the three in the corner."

On the play of point guard Chelsey Shumpert.
"She's learning on how to be a point guard, a player of her height should grow to be a point guard, but for some reason in Paducah you grow up to be shooting guard. I think you can see that she's really starting to enjoy it, setting the table for others, and making some good decisions. Our offense will come off of that and I think she will get better off of that."

On adjustments made to open up lead.
"We had to adjust a little on defense and slow down. I think we came out energetic and the energy was going into our shots and rushing a little too much. The ball was moving the way we like it to move, and when that happens, at some point it'll kick in and we won't get frustrated."

Lakelyn Bouldin, Fr.-G
On what sparked team to end on big run.
"I think shots were falling and we got more comfortable. We were kind of getting in a rhythm and things were starting to click. I think after that, it gave us a lot of confidence down the stretch."

On key to a career-high 18 points.
"Staying confident. Looking for my shots. I know my teammates are going to find me, it's my job to make it count. So, its just a mental thing when shots aren't falling. Just shoot through it."

Jasmine Joyner, Sr.-F
On the spark off the bench.
"I could agree. I remember I got really energetic when Moses [Johnson] came in, and they know when a bigger guard is going to post up. So, we didn't do it the first time, but the second time, Moses caught the defender off guard, and I read it and I passed it to her. She did a little post move and they called timeout and that was kind of the spark. The spark definitely comes when the bench comes in and does their job. We just play like a team and give energy off of one another."

On bringing energy every night.
"We just had to come out hungry, that's just it. We just have to come out and have energy, play together, and focus. There's times we try to get a possession off, or we don't play all four quarters, and we just know everyone is after us bringing their best game, no matter what. So we have to bring our best game and continue to play like we know how."
