Postgame Notes vs. Furman

Chattanooga Basketball Postgame Notes
Furman at Chattanooga
McKenzie Arena – Chattanooga, Tenn.
Wednesday – Jan. 10, 2018

TEAM
- The Chattanooga Mocs dropped a 73-55 Southern Conference contest to Furman tonight.  UTC falls to 6-11 overall and 0-4 in SoCon action … Furman improved to 13-4 and 4-0 in league play.

- The Mocs played the game without a scholarship post player tonight. Makinde London sustained a lower-body injury in practice Tuesday and is listed as day-to-day. There have been 38 man games lost to injury this season with 33 coming in the post.

- Due to injury, UTC played with eight players, just five on basketball scholarships: Jonathan Bryant II, Rodney Chatman, Nat Dixon, Makale Foreman and David Jean-Baptiste … Jean-Baptiste made his first career start.

- The Mocs trailed by 16 in the first half (27-11 – 8:18), but closed the half on a 20-9 run to trail by five at the break.

- UTC trailed by three – 49-46 – with 9:47 left to play before Furman used a 15-2 run to take control of the game.  UTC was just 3-9 with six turnovers the rest of the game.

- Furman forced UTC into 11 second-half turnovers, outscoring the Mocs 19-2 in points off turnovers in the second half … 26-6 advantage for the game.

- Furman's bench outscored UTC 15-0.

- Mocs only managed 21 boards in the game … fourth fewest in school history and lowest total since grabbing 14 at Wisconsin on Nov. 16, 2014.

- Despite a 9-4 deficit in offensive rebounds, the Mocs only trailed Furman 12-9 in second-chance points.

- UTC was a season-low 4-15 (26.7%) from 3-pt. range tonight.

- 85th meeting with Furman. It is the third-longest series in school history behind Samford (95) and Western Carolina (90) and just ahead of ETSU (83), ironically the past three opponents. UTC leads 54-31 (.635) with a 30-8 (.789) record at home … Mocs had won five in a row at home … last home loss to Furman was 61-52 setback on Feb. 13, 2010.
