Postgame Quotes

Lamont Paris, Head Coach
Opening statement after close loss to Western Carolina.
"That's another one. We couldn't manufacture a stop when we needed to tonight. We did not play well, and I didn't have a good feeling about it. Some times you feel okay being down five. I didn't feel good where we were for the majority of the game."

On fouling and turning the ball over.
"You can't do that with consistency and feel like you're going to win. There's a lot of components that go into winning a basketball game. One of them is just playing. Just playing basketball. Guys have to and need to get better. We also have to improve catching the ball without traveling. That killed us."

On defending without fouling.
"We talked about that before the game. Defending without fouling. I wrote that up on the board. I knew the way they play and what they like to do, it needed to be mentioned. We didn't do that. We fouled, and it was the same guys we kept fouling. Breakdowns, miscues. Some missed free throws. They'll always come back to bite you."

On Jim Foster's 900 win accomplishment.
"I'm really happy for him. That means you have been around and developed some winners and ones that continue to win in life. It's very impressive and well deserving. I really like him a lot."

Nat Dixon, Jr.-F/G
On what went wrong.
"At the end of the day, we didn't come out and play like how we were supposed to. We have another road game Saturday against a really good team, so we need to bounce back and play harder. We didn't play hard tonight."

On being called for fouls and committing turnovers.
"We can't let things like that get to us. Me personally, I let the little things bother me tonight. We need to be smarter and play harder. We were in some situations with a bunch of different lineups. A lot of guys were in foul trouble, all good players. It's tough not having them on the floor. We didn't play hard so we need to get back to the drawing board and get better. We have to bounce back and we shouldn't have let it get this way tonight."

On playing in another one possession game.
"We been in these situations all year. We haven't come out on the right side of it enough. We can control our mindset and effort as a team, and tonight we weren't very good at that."

Makale Foreman, So.-G
On finding yourself in foul trouble.
"Foul trouble. It plagued me and the team the whole game. You just have to play through it and play hard, trying to get the win for the team. You can't be that aggressive on the defensive end. It makes you play a little more tentative. You just have to keep playing hard and fight through it."

On pace of the game.
"There was a lot of back-and-forth action going on. We have to get more stops on the defensive end if we want to win these kind of close games."

On returning to hometown for game at ETSU on Saturday.
"I can't wait to go down there and try to play my best in front of my family and friends. We'll probably see the whole family and some friends from high school. That usually brings the most out of my game because they are expecting a good game."
