Maclellan Gym
Directions to Maclellan Gym
Maclellan Gymnasium is home to the 29-time Southern Conference champion Mocs wrestling team and five-time SoCon tournament champion Mocs volleyball team. The 2,000-seat gym is the former home of the men's and women's basketball teams before they moved across the street to McKenzie Arena in 1982.
Maclellan Gym was built on campus in 1961 and was named after Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jardin Maclellan. Mr. Maclellan was a member of the Chattanooga Board of Trustees from 1935 until his death in 1956.
The gym houses offices for the wrestling program and locker rooms for wrestling, volleyball and soccer. It features a main court, auxiliary court and a recently redesigned wrestling room.
Ahead of the 2023 indoor volleyball season, the original wood floor of Maclellan Gymnasium was removed and replaced with an entirely new floor. Maintaining the Power-"C" logo at center court, the new floor provides a safer and modern flex-floor for UTC's student-athletes to play on, while also serving as a much more aesthetically pleasing look to in-person fans and Chattanooga's video streaming audience.
A time lapse of the 2023 floor installation process can be found below, along with images from UTC volleyball's and wrestling's attendance records in Maclellan.
