Angelo “Nubby” Napolitano was an All-American tight end for the Mocs from 1966-68. He set the school record with 118 catches and 1,623 receiving yards from 1966-68, a time when passing offenses were rare.
Napolitano’s 13.8 yards-per-catch still ranked No. 10 on UTC’s all-time list. He had school records for catches and yards with 11 receptions for 191 yards in a 21-14 win over NE Louisiana on Oct. 7, 1967. That is still No. 9 on the Mocs’ single-game receiving yards list.
Napolitano led the Mocs in receiving yards and receptions for three years in a row. He is the only person in school history to accomplish that feat. His 634 yards in 1967 and 42 catches in 1968 were school records at the time.
