Orand was a 3-time Southern Conference Champion, winning the league title at 190 pounds in 1978 and 1979 and 177 pounds in 1980.  The only reason he was not a 4-time SoCon Champion is because UTC did not join the league until his sophomore season.

He qualified for the 1979 and 1980 NCAA Tournaments and is a member of Southern Conference All-Century Team announced in 2021. He is one of 18 Mocs win three or more SoCon titles in a career.
