Bret Gustafson has a rare distinction among former UTC athletes. He is the only wrestler in school history to win four Southern Conference individual titles and earn All-America status.
Gustafson wrestled his way to All-America accolades in 1991, finishing fifth at the NCAA Championships at 177 pounds.
He is also one of only three UTC wrestlers to win four SoCon titles, and he captured three straight crowns at 177 pounds in 1990, 1991 and 1992. He was the 167-pound conference winner in 1988.
During his career, the Mocs won four consecutive SoCon team titles under head coaches Ethan Reeve and Ralph Manning.
A graduate of UTC in 1992 with a degree in Marketing, Gustafson has found success as an international model.
