Charlie Buckshaw was a four-time Southern Conference champion wrestler from 1986-89. He is one of just four, four-time SoCon Champions in UTC history.
Buckshaw won league titles at 177 lbs in 1986, 1987 and 1988.
Buckshaw wrestled 190 lbs his senior year and won his fourth Southern Conference title in 1989 as the SoCon Tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler. His 33-3 mark as a senior is the ninth-most single-season wins at UTC and the fifth best single-season percentage (.917). He was nationally ranked throughout his career and reached as high as #3 in the country his senior season.
During his career he was voted 1st Team Freshman All-American, was a two-time NCAA DI quarterfinalist and is a member of Southern Conference All Century Team.
In addition, he represented UTC and the United States competing in Europe in 1988.
He finished his career with a record of 113-20-1 and is tied for fifth in overall career wins with a winning percentage of 84.3%.
