Elizabeth Sharp Henderson was a three-time individual national champion and All-American for the Mocs from 1977-80. She earned her All-American honors while leading UTC to AIAW Small College national titles in 1977, 1978 and 1979.
She won the singles national championships in 1977, 1978 and 1979, as well as the doubles championships all three years. Henderson teamed with Kathy Kolankiewicz to finish third in the NCAA as senior when UTC moved to Division I.Â
After her playing career was over, Henderson became a collegiate coach. Her first stop was as an assistant at North Carolina. She became head coach at William & Mary in 1982 and spent three seasons with the Tribe before leading the Tennessee women’s tennis program until 1987.
