Junior Jackson was the 1989 Southern Conference Coaches Defensive Player of the Year.  He was the first Moc to win a player of the year honor from the SoCon and is still third in career tackles at UTC with 454.

Jackson earned All-American honors from the AFCA, Kodak and the Associated Press (2nd Team) as a senior in 1989.  In addition, he was the Scrappy Moore Team MVP and named first team All-SoCon.

Jackson’s 181 tackles in 1989 are the third most in a season in school history.  He grabbed four SoCon Defensive Player of the Week Honors as a team captain that season.

Jackson led the Mocs in tackles for three years in a row, including 87 in 1987 and 120 in 1988.  He also had a 50-yard fumble return for a touchdown against Furman on Nov. 15, 1986.  In 2003, he was named to the UTC All-Century Team.
