Orland Lourenco was the 1985 Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Year. He is the only men’s player in the history of the SoCon to win league titles in singles and doubles all four years of his career.
Lourenco won the SoCon at No. 5 singles and No. 3 doubles, teaming with David Breitkopf, as a freshman in 1982. He moved up to No. 3 singles as a sophomore and won No. 2 doubles with Scott Zaccaria in 1983.
Lourenco and Zaccaria took the No. 1 doubles crown at the SoCon Tournament in 1984, with Lourenco winning at No. 2 singles. As a senior, Lourenco won No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles with Frederick Waern.
Lourenco led the Mocs to team championships at the Southern Conference Tournament all four years of his career.
