Tom Weathers was a four-year letter winner and captain of the 1961 Mocs football team.  The Columbus, Miss., native joined the program as an end in 1958 and was one of the top receivers on the team throughout his career.  He also spent time on the track team, competing in the hurdles. 

Weathers is best known in the Chattanooga area as the long-time head coach of Red Bank High School.  He was inducted into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2019.  He served as assistant coach at 5 different schools before landing at Red Bank in 1973

In 29 years as head coach at Red Bank he won 222 games while only losing 85.  He left Red Bank in 2002 and went to Georgia for two years and then finished his career at Soddy Daisy High School from 2004 – 2007. 

Weathers won the TSSAA Class 5A State Championship at Red Bank in 2000 with a 15-0 record.  He has earned numerous Coach of the Year honors including TN Titans, TSSAA, and TACA.  He is a member of the Greater Chattanooga Sports, Chattanooga Old Timers and Tennessee Football Coaches Association Halls of Fame.  The field at Red Bank High School is named in his honor and he received TSSAA Distinguished Service Award in 1988.
