TEAM
- With the loss the Lady Mocs fall to 2-5 on the season and 0-1 in SoCon action...it is the first time UTC is 2-5 since the 1995-96 season... Samford improves to 6-1 on the year and 1-0 in the SoCon.
- Tonight marks the first loss in a SoCon opener for head coach Wes Moore in his 12 seasons at UTC.
- Tonight's win is just the second in the series for Samford...UTC is nnow 7-2 in nine games against the Bulldogs...Samford's only other win was a 77-59 victory on Jan. 20, 1999 in Birmingham.
- UTC shot a season-low 30.5% from the floor, including 22.2% (6-27) from 3-pt. range.
- Chattanooga did commit a season-low eight turnovers in the game...fewest turnovers in a game since committing seven against Davidson in a 76-69 win on Jan. 17, 2009.
INDIVIDUAL
Senior Shanara Hollinquest
- Team-high 17 points on 6-9 shooting, 1-1 from 3-pt. range and 4-5 from the FT line.
- Season-low two rebounds...came into the game averaging 9.7 rpg...fewest rebounds since grabbing two against Louisville during her sophomore year on Nov. 24, 2007.
- Has 1,279 career points and passes Jennifer Wilson (2000-03) and Lisa Porter (1980-83) to move into 11th place on UTC's all-time scoring list.
Sophomore Tenisha Townsend
- Career-high five assists
Senior Jenaya Wade-Fray
- Seven points on 2-10 shooting, 0-4 from 3-pt. range
- Team-high seven rebounds
- First game this season without a 3-pt. FG...snapped a string of 17-straigh games with a 3-pt. FG.
- Has 164 career 3-pt. FGs and is No. 4 on the UTC career list...needs seven more to pass Miranda Warfield (2000-04) for third all-time at Chattanooga
