Lady Mocs Travel to Florida for Second Spring Event

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Jacksonville, Fla., is the second destination of the Spring for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's golf team as it travels south for the JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational Monday and Tuesday, March 9-10.

The Lady Mocs will be looking to improve on its 16th place finish at the Wildcat Invitational. Of the competition is a little different as UTC enters as the second highest ranked team in the field.

The 54-hole, two-day event is played at the Eagle Landing Golf Club. The tournament begins Monday with a shotgun start as the teams will 36 holes over the 6,282-yard par-72 course tract. Tuesday will feature 18 holes with starting times based on the teams' finish on Monday.

Two Southern Conference schools, Elon and UNC Greensboro, will be in attendance Other schools included in the 14-team field: Illinois, Iowa and Penn State. A complete list is located at the bottom of this release.

Freshman Maria Salinas leads the Lady Mocs with a 75.67 scoring average. Sophomore Emma de Groot is second on the squad at 76.0.

WHO: Maju Loza. The freshman from Peru was the top finisher for the Lady Mocs in the last two outings.

WHAT: JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational

WHERE: Eagle Landing Country Club; Jacksonville, Fla.

HOW: Chattanooga (52nd) is the second highest ranked team in the field behind No. 49 East Carolina. That doesn't count Barry, however, which is ranked No. 5 in Division II. The Spring's opening event (Wildcat Invitational) featured the top three teams in the country.
