Lady Mocs Finish Second at SoCon Championship

HILTON HEAD, S.C.---In just its second year as an intercollegiate program, the
Furman claimed the title with a 54-hole total of 916 with
Furman's Stefanie Kenoyer won medalist honors with a seven-over par total of 223. Elon's Danielle Mills came in second at 227 (+11), while
The Lady Mocs closed the gap to 18 early in the round before falling back slightly on the day at the turn.
The Paladins never faltered and the Lady Mocs played them steady throughout the day trailing by one shot, 305 to 306, at the end of the day.
Salinas was one of two Lady Mocs in the top five as sophomore Emma de Groot finished fifth at 231 (+15), one shot out of the third-place tie. She had the Lady Mocs low round with a 74 (+2) on the day.
Christine Wolf tied for 18th at 239 after a final round 76, while Maria Juliana Loza was 21st at 241. Moa Duf finished tied for 26th with a 245 over the 54 holes.
The Lady Mocs now await the NCAA Regionals announcement if they make this year's field. Emma de Groot played as an individual in the 2008 NCAA East Regional.

>Emma de Groot repeated as All-Southern Conference in 2009. Maria Salinas was named Freshman of the Year along with All-SoCon and All-Freshman team honors. Maju Loza earned All-Freshman as well.
