Mocs Move Up to 11th Going into Final Round of Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's golf team is in 11th place after 36 holes of the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall. Chattanooga shot a 303 Saturday to move up two spots with a total of 612 with 18 holes to play.
The Mocs are just two shots behind 10th-place Ohio State (610) and six back of No. 18 South Carolina in ninth at 606. No. 15 Wake Forest (605) is in eighth seven strokes clear of UTC.
Chattanooga is one shot ahead of North Carolina State, one of two teams the Mocs jumped during today's round. No. 23 Oklahoma State is three shots behind in 13th at 615.
Emma de Groot (Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia) shook off a tough opening round to pace the Mocs with a two-over par 74 today. She topped Jordan Britt (Dayton, Tenn.) by one as Britt carded a 75 (+3).
Maria Juliana Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) and Christine Wolf (Igls, Austria) rounded out the team scoring with twin 77s. Yushira Budhram (Johannesburg, South Africa) had the drop score with an 84.
Wolf is the low Mocs scorer overall tied for 24th at 149 (+5). Loza and Britt are next tied for 40th at 153 (+9).
No. 6 Duke leads the event with a one-under par total of 575. The Blue Devils fired a four under team round of 284 today and are five shots ahead of No. 5 UCLA and No. 13 North Carolina which are tied for second at 580. Texas is fourth at 593 followed by No. 9 Virginia at 594.
UVa's Brittany Altomare leads individually at minus five, 139, after today's 68 (-4). Duke's Lindy Duncan is in second at 140 (-4). Duncan had today's low round with a 66.
An 8:45 a.m., shotgun start awaits the Mocs Sunday morning. Chattanooga is paired with Ohio State and N.C. State and will tee off on holes 10-12.
