Mocs Take Nine-Stroke Lead into Final Round at Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. --- Freshman Yushira Budhram (Johannesburg, South Africa) fired a second-round tournament low 73 (+1) on a tough day to score at the Lady Paladin Invitational at Furman Golf Club. Budhram led Chattanooga's surge into first place by nine shots heading into Sunday's final round.
Budhram carded four birdies in a nice bounce back round from Friday. She moved up 50 spots on the leaderboard from a tie for 74th to tied for 24th at 158.
The Mocs' 308 gives them a two-day total of 613. That leaves them nine shots clear of Georgia State in second. NCAA Division II powers Nova Southeastern and Rollins are tied for third 12 shots back at 625.
Christine Wolf (Igls, Austria) shot 76 (+4) in her second round and is one shot off the individual lead, tied for third at 150 (+6). A double bogey on 17 marred an otherwise fine round for the senior.
Emma de Groot (Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia) is tied for seventh overall at nine-over par 153. She is just four shots off the lead as Chattanooga has a strong duo in the hunt for medalist honors.
Jordan Britt (Dayton, Tenn.) had the final counting round with an 81. Britt tied her season high with 14 pars. Maria Juliana Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) had the drop score with an 82, her first drop score in 44 rounds.
Sian Evans (ETSU) and Charlotte Lorentzen (Georgia State) are tied for first at 149 (+5). Wolf is tied for third a shot back with defending medalist Sandra Changkija (Nova Southeastern) at 150.
The Mocs are once again paired with Georgia State and Nova Southeastern. Sunday's final round is a shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m. Chattanooga will start on holes one through three and live scoring can be found on the women's golf schedule page at GoMocs.com.

>Chattanooga is one of three SoCon teams in the field with Furman and Samford...Leading the Bulldogs by 15 and the Paladins by 17...UTC is 3-0 against SoCon rivals so far this year with a 109-stroke advantage (36.3 strokes per win).
