On starting Alex Black:
"Their guards are very aggressive and they can all shoot the 3-point shot. I felt like we had to go with a little bit quicker lineup. I was proud of her, she did a good job."
On getting the first win:
"It feels good, but we had a nice lead early and then let it disappear pretty quickly. There was some frustration, but there were a lot of good things that happened also. A lot of people contributed, but for right now we try to find a win and move on."
On what a successful season is going to take:
"If you don't have legitimate players around the perimeter you can run into problems. After the game I told the team that we went with the defensive lineup and shot poorly from beyond the arc and still won. So that is what it is going to take is to just find a way to win and hit some shots when we need to."
On importance of getting a win before the long road trip:
"Without question, it is not fun to get into a hole early in the season. I hope this team will continue to get better and it is going to be a big challenge at the tournament in California. We start with Wyoming and it will be a tough test."
On team effort since the Tennessee game:
"I have seen flashes of it getting better and then there are times when I have my doubts. Our basketball I.Q. is not what it needs to be. We have to teach every little detail, and that is tough but it is part of being young."

"I think this gives us momentum, but we still have to focus on the little things such as playing defense and rebounding."

"I was very nervous, and I first found out that I was starting in pre-game talk. It was good to find out so close to the game so that I wouldn't have to think about it."
