Chattanooga Head Coach Wes Moore
Chattanooga vs. Lee University
Opening thoughts on the game
"It seemed like everybody was hitting their shots and knocking them down, and that gives you a little bit of confidence. Whitney Hood, we have to get her the ball and get her some touches and I think we did a good job of that tonight. We got her enough shots. In fact, I told her before the game she ought to get twenty and she did. She is very coachable and that is good. Tenisha Townsend had a great first half and she played really well. Kayla Christopher was Kayla Christopher and obviously we needed that from her. We still have a long way to go, obviously. Right now we don't have a whole lot depth. We're pretty shallow and the freshmen are going to have to play, but at times they showed their youth and panic. They acted like the ball was a hot potato and they had to get rid of it, but fortunately we got off to a great start and set the tone for the night."
What it's like having Kylie Lambert back
"It helps us tremendously that we have Kylie Lambert back. She can play the three or four so it makes us better at two positions. I know she is still experiencing some discomfort, but I know Bailey Dewart and Kiara Smith have had to deal with it quite a while, too. Hopefully they will all continue to get better and we can get them back to 100 percent."
Thoughts on team's play
"I believe we could have done a few more different things. Lee made a run thee at the end and I knew they would. Marty Rowe does a great job, they are very well coached and they play hard. A lot of those kids we looked at in high school and I know they are going to bring it every night. Brooke McKinnon is a great player and I knew they would make a run, but they made a bigger one than I wanted them to. I got a little nervous over there, but we did what we had to do."
In preparation for first regular season game
"We'll look at the film tonight and get a feel for the areas we are concerned about. Like I said, we need the young players to grow up in a hurry. They have that deer-in-a-headlight look right now, and they want to get rid of the ball as quick as they could and panic. We have to work through that and get over that. Hopefully tonight did that. Putting on the uniform and getting in front of a crowd should have got that out of their system."
Kylie Lambert, sophomore
On the game
It felt good to come out and play. It was definitly a transition from sitting out for about three weeks to coming in and playing. I was in a little bit of pain, but I had to fight through it. I hope that it's not something that is going to be nagging me for a while.
On the team's play
I think we played a little bit better than expected. It was our first game and it wasn't crazy on the court like I expected. There are a lot of things that we need to work on
Whitney Hood, junior
On her first game with UTC
It felt great playing in my first game with UTC. I was nervous and excited all day.
On the team's play
I think we came out and played hard. We played a lot better tonight than we did against Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech is very athletic and there is definitly a difference between them and Lee. Georgia Tech is 6'5'' and 6'6'' while is 5'9'' and 5'10.''
