Head Coach Wes Moore
Thoughts on the tough overtime loss:
"They are all heartbreakers right now. It is a killer. We are not used to losing and being where we are right now. It is tough, but we just have to keep plugging and fighting. We did some good things, but we missed too many free throws. Some of those were on the front end of one-and-ones. We missed some layups and some easy looks. I am proud of the kids for fighting back after being down and hanging in there, but that is not going to help us in the end. We have to find a way to finish."
On carrying the momentum of Kylie Lambert's game-tying shot into overtime:
"That is what you are hoping for, but you also know that in the back of your mind you've got a lot of kids out there that have played a lot of minutes. I went into this game thinking I would be able to rotate a bit more and then Alex (Black) couldn't really go 100%. That left us a little short-handed on the perimeter. It was one of those things. Every possession is so critical. You have to find a way to get that key stop at the right time...get that open look again, and we just didn't get it done."
On the 20 turnovers:
"People right now...Charleston did it Thursday and Georgia Southern did it today...they just manhandled Whitney Hood. They pushed her off the block, grabbed her, held her and consequently she had some turnovers. Some of those were travel calls where she would catch it down on the block and they would double her, and bump her, and ride her out of bounds or into a walk. We are going to have to find a way to combat that because she is an important part of what we are able to do."
On hitting threes as a part of the offense:
"They are very important and that has been a problem on this road trip. Both of these games, we have not shot the three particularly well...28.6% today...that makes it tough again on your post player because you are not making enough shots to keep them off of her. Georgia Southern kept up its pace from last time we played and they end up shooting almost 58% from the three. You have to give them a lot of credit. They knocked down shots. I thought we had a few layups and some good shots inside that we needed to finish and didn't get done."
