Head Coach Wes Moore
On winning a close game:
"It was important to win one of these. We have lost so many close ones recently, especially the last two in overtime. We hit some important shots. Tenisha's (Townsend) three in the corner was big. She hits most of her free throws. I am just happy for these kids to be rewarded for all of the work and all of the time they have put into this. I am excited for them but we still have a long way to go."
More on the play of Tenisha Townsend:
"It was a good team win. We are by no means where we want to be. I am happy for Tenisha because she is from Nashville area. It was neat for her to be able to come here at home and play a great game."
On the lack of turnovers:
"We did do a better job. Georgia Southern and Kennesaw State really got after us and pressed...made it difficult to run our stuff. Belmont was a little bit more of a packed in defense. They doubled the post all day and made it a little bit harder on (Whitney Hood). Fortunately, we had some other people step up. She still had 15 points and nine boards so it wasn't like she was slumming out there. It was a little but more difficult because they were coming with the double team every time."
On the play of Bailey Dewart:
"That is where Bailey Dewart hit some big shots for us. She hit three big three-pointers and we need that from Bailey. That is something she is capable of doing and she knocked down some big ones when her man was doubling Whitney Hood on the block. It is a shame that she is hampered by the knee injury, but she is going to fight you and battle you. She crashes the boards as well as anybody on our team and she is capable of hitting big shots. We were fortunate she did that today. Like I said, it was a team effort."
