Chattanooga Basketball - Postgame Quotes
Davidson at Chattanooga
McKenzie Arena - Chattanooga, Tenn.
Feb. 15, 2010
Head Coach Wes Moore
On the game:
"It wasn't our best shooting night. We didn't shoot the ball well, but I thought we played great defense in the first half. I thought we did an awesome job on the boards. When you do those things, even when you're not shooting well, you still have the chance to perform pretty well. I am disappointed that in the second half we lost the battle on the boards. That has been a trend of ours lately and that has to change. Overall, it was a hard-fought win. It's that time of year you have to grind it out."
On the team:
"I need to relax a little bit. I let that monster get to me. Sometimes I am playing not to lose and I need to make sure I let the players enjoy it a little bit. They've done a heck of a job and they've been through a lot of adversity with injuries and different things. The freshmen are coming on now. Kylie Lambert is playing well, Kayla Christopher has been playing well, and Michelle Davis didn't have a great night tonight, but she's had some great nights. Erin Helton has been out for a while so we have to get her back into the flow of things this week when we get back on the court and practice."
On the second half:
"Megan Rollins and Shanara Hollinquest, I can't say enough about them. It was either 12 or 13 rebounds between the two. Megan had six and I thing Shanara had seven offensive boards. That is just great leadership. We've got to get the guards involved. The guards didn't have hardly any rebounds in the first half. We've got to get them involved and that is something we've got to do early. Our wings were really attacking, crashing and getting through a gap to the rim. Hopefully we'll get back to it. I am excited about having a couple of days to concentrate on us rather than an opponent."
On Davidson:
"They are well coached. The fundamental kids are going to play physical and they are going to bring it every night. I knew it at halftime. I told our kids that team wasn't just going to go away. There are some teams that might but this team isn't going to. Davidson got back in it and I was nervous those last few minutes. They are a very scrappy team and they are going to keep coming."
Senior Shanara Hollinquest
On the importance of this game:
"Well coach Moore stresses that every game is important. It was good for us to keep rolling in the league."
On the size of Davidson:
"They do make you change your shot and block it sometimes. You just hope you can out-quick them and get it to the hole before they get to the ball."
On getting knocked down:
"I counted about 30."
On the rest of the conference:
"You really can't pay attention to it, because on any given night anybody can win."
Senior Jenaya Wade-Fray
On the struggles of the past couple of games:
"I felt a lot better. I figured I just had a couple of off-nights so it was time to start hitting shots."
On making 200 career three-pointers:
"I actually had no idea until you said something. I just shoot them and hope they go in."
On the Davidson comeback:
"They got some offensive rebounds and some fouls. They stopped the clock and got to the line. We just had to settle down and get the ball to Shanara."
