On falling to Western Carolina
This team isn't buying, man. They're not buying into what I'm selling and what we're selling as coaches. It's frustrating, very frustrating. I tried to explain to them in the locker room that "you're going to regret this the rest of your life if you don't turn it up and have some energy, have some enthusiasm." It's just very disappointing. It's been that way most of the year. I'll take part of the blame. We looked terrible on offense, but part of it is you have to knock down a shot. I thought finally with about eight minutes left in the game as we have had a tendency to do this year, that we finally turned it on and got back into the game. I don't know if we were down six or eight, maybe eight. We turned up the intensity and got back into the game. We didn't do a very good job attacking them and that falls on my shoulders too.
On the chance to take the game back in regulation, but falling short
With about eight minutes left we were down six or eight. Battled back and had a chance. We didn't get good looks either, so I'll take the blame for that. It's very frustrating, even little things. Our defense in the first half we were trying to be a little more aggressive, trying to front the post. We have tried to get our posts for 3-4-5 months to really sit on that post so they can't lob on you and we're not committed to doing that. In practice going over stuff, they're not committed to buying into looking at the scouting report and I think they get bored with that. It's very frustrating. It's not your typical Lady Mocs team, that's all I've got to say.
On Western Carolina
They did a great job, played some zone. They did a good job on their man-to-man packing it in, making it hard on Shanara (Hollinquest), doubling her some. We took advantage of that where Megan (Rollins) hit a three. We probably should have gone back to that. Give them credit. They played hard, they wanted it, I knew they would. They get up for us especially, but again very disappointing. We've got to find ways to attack better when they take Shanara out like they did.
On the poor offensive output by both teams
We struggled offensively, but both teams did for that matter. Basically we did the same thing we did down at College of Charleston. Shot 26 percent from the field. I'll take part of the blame for that. It was not pretty.
On Samford game coming up Sat., Feb. 27
They completely annihilated us down there so you know you're going to see some of the Princeton stuff they did down there. They can all pass the ball and shoot the ball. They play at a very fast speed so it's going to be a great challenge for us, no doubt.
