VALDOSTA, Ga..---Junior Emma de Groot claimed the 15th top 10 of her career for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga finishing in a tie for fourth at the Kinderlou Forest Challenge at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club. de Groot shot a one-over par total of 220 to finish three shots behind Tulane's Janine Fellows (-2).
Emma, a native of Australia, was just one stroke off the pace at one under before a double bogey on her final hole dropped her into a tie for fourth with Samantha Troyanovich, also from Tulane. Vandy's Marina Alex and Georgia's Marta Silva Zamora finished tied for second at 219 (E).
It was an impressive tournament for de Groot who is ranked No. 76 nationally on Golfstat. The field features 21 players ranked in the top 100 led by Alex at No. 2.
The Mocs finished tied for 15th with Kentucky at 953. Tulane captured the title shooting 889 followed by Ohio State (896) and Tennessee (901). The field included 14 top 15 programs including Chattanooga at No 29.
Junior Christine Wolf finished tied for 59th at 237. She led the team in pars for the event with 35. Sophomore Maria Juliana Loza tied for 84th at 249, while senior Katie Taylor came in 87th at 252. Sophomore Moa Duf rounded out the scoring tying for 88th at 256.
Chattanooga returns to action March 7-9 defending its title at the JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.
